Hello OPEN Family! Fall is here and OPEN is happily back to work.
Now that the funds are raised, our focus is on finding and selecting the next Traveler and we’re doing an OPEN call to find that person. We’ve received some strong entries, but I want to continue to throw the net wide.
Many of you have asked about the application process, and what exactly I’m looking for:
OPEN is focused on individuals who are in transitional moments in their lives - individuals who could benefit from stepping outside of the every day and examining themselves against a new backdrop. OPEN is particularly interested in telling diverse stories from all walks of life. All age ranges, genders, ethnicities, socio-economic backgrounds, nationalities and life phases are welcome and warmly encouraged to apply. Please submit essays and/or videos to this email address: email@example.com.
Here is what I’d love to know:
1. What is going on in your life? What makes you ripe for a journey at this particular moment?
2. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why this particular destination? How is it tied to you and the life journey you’re on?
3. How would this trip help you process and pass through the crossroads moment you find yourself in? What would this journey resolve or assist you in doing?
4. When you close your eyes and imagine yourself in this location, what’s the first image that comes to mind? How do you feel?
There is one particular story that OPEN longs to tell, which is the story of a “homecoming”. I’d love to take an individual who is second or third generation back to his or her family’s country of origin. Perhaps they have heard about it from their parents or grandparents, perhaps they speak the language, but they have never been there themselves. OPEN would like to take them “home” to explore and connect with their roots.
While this story is high up on the list, we welcome all stories that fit the criteria above. Please share this information and encourage your communities to apply.
This next journey is going to be epic, I can feel it…
